TITLE: Platero and Koziolek Matolek in "La Route du Rhum”

 STAGE 1

Narrator: Platero is a very faithful, hairy, soft, mild  and silver little donkey; He´s cute and cuddly. He looks like cotton and only his eyes are hard like two black glass beetles.

When his friend Juan Ramón Jiménez calls him,he comes with a divine little trot.

(Platero trots around his friend)
Chorus:
You've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me

When the road looks rough ahead

And you're miles and miles from your nice
warm bed

You just remember what your old pal said

Boy, you've got a friend in me

Yeah, you've got a friend in me.

Platero (trotting): Ummm! Delicious! I love mandarin oranges, very sweet ambar grapes and purple figs with cristal honey drops!

Narrator: Every day, Platero goes to the meadow to watch the sky and the horizon, or to follow  the marching clouds and the birds fly.

He tries imagine what the horizon will look like from the other side of the ocean.

Platero:  What cute the clouds and flying  birds! How nice is loking at the blue sky and the horizon!

Narrator: Platero would like to be able to fly like birds and follow them in the clouds to feel  free.

(Some clouds appear on stage)
Chorus: (sounds of birds)

Platero: Where are they well?

Juan Ramón Jiménez:Surely to warm regions because winter will be here soon!

Platero: I would like to see the Earth from above too!

Chorus:
You've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me

You got troubles, then
I got 'em too
There isn't anything
I wouldn't do for you

If we stick together we can see it through
'
Cause you've got a friend in me

Yes, you've got a friend in me

Narrator: Fortunately, Platero heard of a famous race "La Route du Rhum."  It leads the skippers to  warm seas of the West Indies driven by the trade winds, ending at a beautiful butterfly shaped island at the other side of the Athlantic Ocean. One sailboat was called to port to have  his torn veil repaired.

Platero: Eh! If I slipped quietly on board. I'll play explorers ...

 STAGE 2:

Narrator: As Platero slipped behind a large crate in the cargo hold, he heard the amazing sound of the croud cheering the sailing ships.

Chorus: mixed sounds of children laughing, dogs barking, cats miaouing, goats, sheeps, cows, bulls, …

Narrator: Then he realized that he wasn't the only one hiding. There was a goat already there.

Platero: Who are you? Why are you hiding behind this crate?

Koziołek Matołek (Matołek the Billy-Goat): I'm Koziołek Matołek and I'm going to Pacanów. I don't have enough money to buy a ticket. Why are you hiding here?

Platero: I'm Platero and I'm going to take part in a race. I don't have any money so I'm hiding here too. Why are you going to Pacanów?

Koziołek Matołek: It's the only town in Poland where they shoe goats.

Platero: Oh. Do they shoe donkeys too? Maybe I can go with you?

Koziołek Matołek: I don't know. Let's find out. It'll be fun to have adventures together!

Chorus:
You've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me

When the road looks rough ahead

And you're miles and miles from your nice warm bed

You just remember what your old pal said

Boy, you've got a friend in me

Yeah, you've got a friend in m.

STAGE 3

Platero: Where are we?

Koziołek Matołek: I´m not sure, I think we are arriving at Copenhagen.

Platero: Is it a long way? I´m hungry!

Koziołek Matołek: Oh! Here we are! but we´ll have to hurry up to get on  the coach to Pacanow … Ummm! Look! There´s a vegetable market there! Let´s take some fruit and vegetables to take away!

Narrator: They take some leeks and mandarin oranges but as they haven´t got money….

Market seller: Eh!! You! That´s very naughty! You have to pay for that! Ehhh!!!!

Koziołek Matołek: In your dreams you´ll catch us!
Narrator: Then a strong wind carried Platero and Koziolek Matolek back to the ship.

STAGE 4:
Narrator: At sunset on the next day, Platero woke up still inside the ship. He went up on the deck and saw  the ship was Landing at Ponte a Pittre, the capital of Guadeloupe, the butterfly shaped island of his dreams. There was a big croud cheering outside.

Chorus: mixed sounds of children laughing, dogs barking, cats miaouing, goats, sheeps, cows, bulls, … (+French expressions)

Platero: Koziolek Matolek! Koziolek Matolek! Koziolek Matolek!

Chorus: Koziolek Matolek!

Koziolek Matolek: Oh, Platero! Congratulations! You made your dream come true!

Platero: I´ll help you make dream come true now!

Narrator: Both, Platero and Koziolek Matolek stayed watching  the sky and the horizon, and to following  the marching clouds and the birds fly.  They both tried to imagine what the horizon would look like from the other side of the ocean and from Pakanow in Poland.

Chorus:
You've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me

You got troubles, then
I got 'em too
There isn't anything
I wouldn't do for you

If we stick together we can see it through
'
Cause you've got a friend in me

Yes, you've got a friend in me
Now some other folks might

Be a little bit smarter than
I am
Bigger and stronger too.
Maybe
But none of them will ever love you

The way I do

Just me and you, boy
And as the years go by

Our friendship will never die

You're gonna see, it's our destiny

You've got a friend in me

You've got a friend in me

Yes, you've got a friend in me
